We have started bodywork of our 110r, and in few days it will be in the garage of our friend mechanic and tinsmith (is that the word?), who is going to cary out the work. This is where we come to questions.
Since it is olmost inpossibly to find original parts for this car in Serbia, especially bumpers and side skirts we were wondering which cars bumpers and side skirts fitts best and are usually used for this purpose (styling of 110r)? We ask this because there are a loot of cars on this site which looks very very good, although they doesnt seems to use original parts.
We also intend to fit in 195/50 R14 rims and tyres and for that, we will put rear brinks of golf Mk 1 , wich will provide space for biger wheels. There is also problem with non standard rims and layout of holes on it, and it is our intention to make new holes on "wheel holders" (hub, barrel; na srpskom -dobos; i dont now the word ). Is this OK, and what is your opinion about that?
Basically, every engine has to be cleaned and the parts that remain standard should be new or renewed (camshaft chain, cylinders, pistons, piston rods, piston rings, valves, crankshaft, bearings, water pump, distributor, ignition).
This should help the engine to catch some breath. Then you can do something to improve the construction of the old engine:
- modify the cylinder head to use the valve sealings from Favorit / Felicia - results in lower oil consumption and engine carbonization
- modify the cyliner head using the valve seat same as Favorit / felicia to run the car for unleaded fuel
- use a newer sealing type of the double pulley (Gufero) - lower oil leakage
- use a newer clutch type
- use an electronic ignition + distributor from Favorit (although it may reduce the power a bit, the engine starts better and runs smoother)
And finally there can be some tuning. You can use a tuning camshaft, lighten the flywheel and balance it with the crankshaft, increase the compression ratio, polish the intake and exhaust channels, make the channels larger, use larger valves, use different exhaust system, use different carburettor, move the cooling to the front (the fan consumes too much power), increase the volume, use different engine...
and many many more...
When you have some idea what would you like to do, we can help you.
nice to hear about 110r from abroad. There are many possibilities to tune the original engine, but you can use the 120LS, 136 or favorit/felicia engine. Then you can tune it safe for about 100 HP, still using lot of series parts. For more detailed information please use my e-mail: rstuning@seznam.cz
i am from serbia, and my friend and i are big funs of skoda, especially of 110 r model. We have been visiting and browsing this site and forum for some time now, and although we dont understand czech language, i must say it is very, very good site, especially because there is so many pictures, which can be very useful.
Recently, my friend bought 110r coupe 1978 model in good condition, which is now in the stage of preparation for tuning and styling.
We were wondering are there experts (on this forum) for 110r, who can read and write english (or serbian, even better 🙂) and are willing to help us with some advices and suggestions in our work.
One of the questions we allready have is about 110r standard engine: how much can it be tuned, what are the main things you usualy do (change) on this engine in order to get more power, which parts can be used and generaly should we consider buying some other engine and which could fit best?
Sorry for bad english, and any forum rule we might break.
